Westio login problems: quick fixes

First, the 60-second checklist

Before working through the detailed fixes, try these quick checks. They solve most Westio login problems:

• Is caps lock off, and is your keyboard set to the right language?
• Are you using the email address you registered with (not a username or old email)?
• Are you on the real Westio site, reached from a bookmark or a trusted link – not a lookalike?
• Is your VPN switched off, and are you in Great Britain?
• Have you tried a different browser or a private window?

Login problems at a glance

Wrong password

The commonest problem by far. Passwords are case-sensitive, and many of us cycle through a few favourites.

If no reset email arrives within 10 minutes, you may have registered with a different address. Live chat can confirm which email is on file once you’ve answered some security questions.

Locked out after 5 attempts

After 5 failed login attempts, Westio locks the account for 30 minutes. This protects you against someone guessing your password. Live chat can’t usually shorten the lock, so:

• Wait the full 30 minutes.
• Reset your password rather than guessing again – another five wrong tries starts a fresh lock.
• If you didn’t make the failed attempts yourself, change your password immediately and tell Westio support. Someone may be trying to access your account.

2-step verification code not arriving

Westio offers optional two-step verification by SMS or an authenticator app.

SMS codes:

• Check you have signal and your phone isn’t blocking short-code texts.
• Wait two minutes before requesting a new code – multiple requests can arrive out of order, and only the latest works.
• If you’ve changed your mobile number, the code is going to the old one. Live chat will need to verify your identity before updating it.

Authenticator apps:

• Codes are time-based, so your phone’s clock must be accurate. Set date and time to “automatic” in your settings.
• If you’ve replaced your phone and didn’t transfer the authenticator, contact live chat to reset 2-step verification after an identity check.

Email not verified

New Westio accounts need a verified email address. If you see a “please verify your email” message, find the welcome email from Westio and click the link. If it’s missing, use the “resend” option or ask live chat. Our Westio registration guide explains every sign-up step.

Browser, cache and app issues

Westio is browser-based on desktop and mobile, with an installable home-screen version (PWA) – there is no App Store or Google Play app. If the page won’t load, freezes or bounces you back to the login screen:

• Clear your browser cache and cookies for the Westio site.
• Disable ad blockers and privacy extensions for the site.
• Update your browser to the latest version.
• Remove and re-add the home-screen shortcut.
• Try mobile data instead of Wi-Fi (or vice versa).

VPN and location

Westio’s UK site is for players located in Great Britain. A VPN, a corporate network that routes traffic abroad, or travelling overseas can trigger a “not available in your location” message or a security lock. Switch off the VPN and reconnect on your normal home or mobile connection.

Account closed, restricted or self-excluded

If the login works but you see an “account closed” or “restricted” message, the problem isn’t your password. It could be a self-exclusion, a time-out, a GAMSTOP match or a check Westio is running. Our Westio account blocked guide explains each reason.

Keeping your account secure

Once you’re back in, take five minutes to make future lockouts less likely:

• Turn on 2-step verification. An authenticator app is more reliable than SMS if your signal is patchy.
• Use a password manager to generate and store a long, unique password. It also fills in your details on the genuine site only, which helps against lookalike pages.
• Keep your mobile number and email up to date in your profile so reset links and codes reach you.
• Log out on shared devices, and don’t let the browser save your password on a work or family computer.
• Check your activity statement in Account → Safer Gambling for anything you don’t recognise.

If you spot logins, deposits or bets you didn’t make, change your password, contact support immediately and tell your bank if a card may be compromised. Unauthorised access is treated seriously, and the sooner it’s reported the easier it is to put right.
